DBZ Movie 2
"The World's Strongest Man"

Movie Summary

Plot Synopsis
The timeline is during the Saiya-jin Saga. Oolong, after the discovery of Dragonballs automatically gathering has lured Gohan with him to the Zulmyzubril mountain range to verify their discovery and hopefully wish for another pair of panties. Obviously, the first one Shenlong gave Oolong isn't enough. Coincidentally, a fanatical scientist named Dr. Kochin was present as well. He collected all the Dragonballs to revive his colleague, Dr. Wheelo who was buried under frozen ice 50 years before. The Dragon obediently granted the wish, and a colossal, black fortress was revealed underneath the shattered ice. Revived, Dr. Wheelo, who inhabits a large brain jar with a robotic body, now seeks a body to inhabit. He wants to co-exist with the world's strongest man, and eventually take over the world. Our heroes will have to once again foil another monstrous plan. So, basically, it's the same damn plot again.

Character Description
The greatest scientific mind in history makes an appearance, and he desires power and dominance like many cliché villains. However, he will not do it alone. With his gruesome three bio-fighters and his assistant Kochin, he plans to sovereign over the Earth. Piccollo, Gokou, Kuririn, Gohan, and even the Turtle Elder pour their efforts to stop this power-hungry tyrant. An odd little musical of Gohan's while dreaming creates some comic relief.

Animation and Sound
In comparison with other Anime, the animation isn't awfully detailed. The colors are fairly brilliant and the fighting scenes, while featuring repeat animation, are exceptionally well done. A trait DBZ is known for, well until Cell premiered his fighting. Barely any new music was integrated, deriving among the TV series as well as Dragonball. One instance of this is Piccollo's theme. The audio effects of hits and blocks are on cue as well as most of the English and Japanese dubbing. FUNimation did abnormally fine with the voice acting. However, frankly, Kochin's English voice frightens me. While masculine in original Japanese, the English voice actor possesses a screeching voice similar to a witch. This is oddly fitting with Kochin's single-tooth grin, if not exactly pleasuring to the ear. The movie has no glaring blunders in this department.

Other Aspects
The entire root of this movie was to simply express Gohan's friendship toward Piccollo. During the movie time period, Piccollo antics in Dragonball still lingered fresh in the world's mind. However, Gohan, in his relentless effort to befriend Piccollo obviously did have a dramatic impact on him. Gohan's innocence dissolved some of Piccollo's ambitions to such an extent he even offers some praise. In simpler terms, Piccollo's getting soft. This, of course, was completed expected. Many of Gokou's past adservaries have eventually befriended Gokou.

Overall
If you're seeking a wonderfully deep, memorable story, you'll be drastically disappointed. Dragonball was never known its depth. Its entire plot is a generic cliché. However, if it's Friday night, and some food is remaining in the fridge, this'll be worth your time while you exercise your gums. I don't recommend purchasing it, because realistically there's much more important things out there for $15. Simply tape it next time CN decides to do a marathon.
